The Story of Tanya

Tanya showed an early interest in drawing, and particular enjoyed sketching with Vaseline on the bathroom wall - until her Mom let it be known that this type of artwork was unpopular with mothers. (This type of abstract expressionism clearly needed to wait until college.)

Tanya with parents at graduationShe attended school in Walkersville, Maryland, and as a "Walkersville Lion" she participated in activities such Colorguard, Yearbook, and Academic Tournament. She graduated as one of six (yes, six, what a joke) valedictorians on her birthday in 1989, and then proceeded to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

As a TarHeel, she spent 3 great years in the land of Carolina Blue. She participated in fabulous campus activities/groups that gave her unique academic opportunities such as painting herself blue and leading cranky freshmen in giant orientation groups.

She spent her junior year attending school at the University of Bristol, England. She completed 90% of her Geography major here, and enjoyed visiting some of the most beautiful cathedrals in Western Europe. Junior-Year-Abroad was a life changing experience that allowed her to broaden her perspective, try her hand at ballroom dancing and hot-air ballooning, and meet some great people.

After graduating, she returned to the DC area. She survived two years in the downtown non-profit arena, thrived for six years in corporate training (before being squashed like a bug during merger-mania), then moved to her present small-tech job at Matrix Group.

Living only an hour from home, Tanya and her parents visit relatively frequently, and particularly enjoy hikes in the Catoctin Mountains.

The two families met for the first time when tanya and steve bought their rockledge house in 2001.
